The album was released on 19 August 2011. In December 2011 it was announced that Making Mirrors was voted Triple J listeners' number-one album of 2011, making Gotye the first artist to win the Triple J album poll twice. It spawned the internationally critically acclaimed hit "Somebody That I Used To Know" which has impacted charts worldwide.

Gotye Says of the album "It's more about reflection - the look at yourself that a mirror offers and also the way it gives you a different perspective on things around you. So I guess I feel a bit analogous to what these songs become to me—you know little ways for me to explore my record collection, explore the world of sound that I'm fascinated by, and also sometimes get a different perspective on memories and emotions I've been mulling over that they find voice in these songs"

LACUNA COIL
Dark Adrenaline
www.lacunacoil.it
Dist: EMI Music Canada

Italy’s greatest musical export, LACUNA COIL, have returned with the massively anticipated, new full-length release, Dark Adrenaline. Everything changed when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Rumer dealt with her pain by writing a series of intensely powerful songs, documenting her personal journey through grief. She returned to London upon her mother’s death in 2003, performing anywhere and everywhere she could, ultimately catching the attention of producer/composer Steve Brown. Together the two musicians began crafting what would become “Seasons Of My Soul.” In addition, Rumer also had a fateful encounter with one of her personal heroes, the legendary Burt Bacharach, who flew her to Los Angeles after hearing the album’s extraordinary first single, “Slow.” Earning the master’s approval was just the beginning of what’s proven to be a somewhat dizzying ride for Rumer.

CELTIC WOMAN
Believe
www.celticwoman.com
Dist: EMI Music Canada

BELIEVE marks for Celtic Woman a new chapter of musical enchantment to be enjoyed by the entire family. Samson has written four acclaimed albums with The Weakerthans. The band's most recent studio release Reunion Tour garnered praise from an assortment of publications including Paste Magazine, who said, "If such a prize existed, it would be the leading candidate for this year's Punk Pulitzer." Provincial, Samson’s first solo release began with a simple idea: to explore four different roads in Manitoba, the Canadian province where Samson lives. “They're the places I kept going back to.” Samson talked to relatives, friends and strangers; he visited archives, a tuberculosis sanatorium-turned-RV park, a forgotten cemetery. The result is this collection of evocative songs, an album that fits beside Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska, Sun Kil Moon’s Ghosts Of The Great Highway, Mountain Goats’ Tallahassee. Provincial is a record full of fierce, tuneful, vivid stories.

SKRILLEX
Bangarang EP
www.skrillex.com
Dist: Warner Music Canada

Skrillex, recently nominated for 5 Grammy® Awards and anointed MTV's EDM Artist of The Year after his ubiquitous single "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" was certified gold in the U.S. and Canada, has decided to release his feverishly anticipated Bangarang EP on OWSLA/Big Beat/Atlantic. The popularity of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon is stronger than ever 40 years on. But it was no bed of roses. No pleasure cruise. Queen had their share of kicks in the face, but they came through and this is how they did it, set against the backdrop of brilliant music and stunning live performances from every corner of the globe. Produced by Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver) and Edwards, ‘Voyageur’ is less of a departure than it is a journey, and like any transforming trip, it demands that we let go of any preconceptions about the destination. ‘Voyageur’ evokes a spectrum of overwhelming feelings within the atmosphere of a lucid dream. Edwards’ characters speak to the grief, loneliness, shock, and confusion that come with endings as well as the hope and irrepressible joy that accompany new beginnings, but the stories are told with a seductively quiet strength. Aided by the musical support of fellow travelers Justin Vernon and Norah Jones, ‘Voyageur’ features standout tracks such as “Change the Sheets,” “Mint,” and “A Soft Place to Land.”

GUIDED BY VOICES
Let's Go Eat The Factory
www.gbv.com
Dist: F.A.B.

After a 15 year hiatus, the "classic lineup" of GUIDED BY VOICES (Robert Pollard, Tobin Sprout, Mitch Mitchell, Greg Demos and Kevin Fennell) finishes off its year-long reunion tour by releasing an album of 21 new songs, deliberately choosing to return to what bandleader Pollard calls the "semi-collegial" approach of iconic GBV albums like 'Bee Thousand' and 'Alien Lanes'. 'Let’s Go Eat The Factory' is much more than a mere return, however: sprawling, variegated, heavy, melodic, and yet still recognizably and coherently Guided By Voices in both its literal and mythic senses. Eschewing the recording studio, 'Let’s Go Eat The Factory' was instead manufactured in the living rooms, basements and garages of various longtime band members. Band members occasionally switched instruments, and Pollard gladly accepted input from other band members. Sprout wrote or co-wrote and sings on six of the 21 songs. The aesthetic is very much GBV, but in some unexpected ways (more prevalent use of keyboards and samples, for one thing) the 21st century can't help but poke its nose into the resulting music.

ANTHONY GREEN
Beautiful Things
anthonygreenschildren.com
Dist: Warner Music Canada

Beautiful Things marks a major creative milestone for Anthony Green, best known as the lead singer for the Philadelphia-based progressive punk act Circa Survive. Co-produced by Green and Jason Cupp, Beautiful Things was recorded at The Big House in the sleepy beach town of Avalon, New Jersey, with backing - and additional production - from Green's fellow Philadelphians, Good Old War. In addition, the album sees guest appearances from such like-minded artists as Ida Maria, Lights, Maps & Atlases guitarist Dave Davison, Claire Wadsworth, Green's Circa Survive comrades Brendan Ekstrom and Colin Frangicetto, and a couple other surprises.

THE PUPPINI SISTERS
Hollywood
www.thepuppinisisters.com
Dist: Universal Music Canada

This UK-based vocal trio brings three-part harmony into the modern age with a repertoire that includes everything from “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” to “I Will Survive.” Inspired by the Oscar®-nominated film The Triplets of Belleville (a French animated movie which features a ‘40s-style harmony group), The Puppini Sisters — Marcella Puppini, Kate Mullins, and Stephanie O’Brien — formed in London. Dressed in 1940’s-style wardrobe, the three sing like The Andrews Sisters with inspiring harmonies, and perform classics such as “Mr. Sandman,” “In The Mood,” and “Jeepers Creepers.” But what makes The Puppini Sisters truly stand out are their show-stopping interpretations of more current tunes: Blondie’s “Heart of Glass,” Kate Bush’s “Wuthering Heights,” and The Smith’s “Panic,” among others.

MARTINA MCBRIDE
Hits and More
martinamcbride.com
Dist: Sony Music Canada

One of the most spectacular voices in any genre of music Martina Mcbride is a four-time CMA female Vocalist and Grammy Winning recording artist with more than 18 million in album sales.
Now RCA records is proud to announce the release of Hits and More, the career-spanning collection of four number 1’s, 10 Top-5 and 2 Top-10 hits along with 3 new tracks. The new album from THE DEVIL'S BLOOD features 11 tracks, which were produced with the help of Pieter Kloos at Void Studios(Eindhoven / The Netherlands).

"THE DEVIL'S BLOOD has a sound that is quite unique in today's scene. Reminiscent of the classic metal and psychedelic rock bands of the 60's and 70's, THE DEVIL'S BLOOD has created a dark and haunting world made up of intriguing music, strong vocals and musicianship, reflective artwork, and a theatrical stage show that is not to be missed." Kronos' artistic director and founder David Harrington says Martynov's music "straddles various points of musical history and time; the music seems to me to reflect and absorb humanity in such a beautiful way."
Born in Moscow in 1946, Martynov was the son of a well-known musicologist and writer. He studied music from a young age and attended the Conservatory before expanding his musical pursuits beyond the traditional classical canon and into folk songs, early music, avant-garde, rock, and electronic music. In 1979, he entered the Spiritual Academy at the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, where he worked on preserving and restoring traditional Russian Orthodox chant. He returned to composition in the 1990s with a new style that combined the traditions of American minimalism with the repetitive chant of Russian Orthodoxy.

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt;
